ToyNews’ sister title, Licensing.biz is bringing its popular Licensing.biz Powerlist back for 2019, celebrating the top 100 most influential brands across the character and entertainment, brands and lifestyle, art and design, and sports licensing sectors.
With the return of this annual celebration of the hottest brands and licenses within the industry from the last 12 months, so too comes the chance for the toy industry to have its say and cast its own votes for the strongest, most influential and most innovative IP of the past year.
The Powerlist 2019 will be unveiled to the industry at this year’s Brand Licensing Europe and will celebrate the 100 most influential brands across the industry, in what has been another big year for licensing.
As in previous years – and after a hiatus in 2018 – the Licensing.biz Powerlist will champion the top 25 biggest brand names across each of the four sectors, reflecting what has been another momentous 12 months for an evolving licensing industry and the wealth of IP within it.
This year, an independent judging panel spanning licensors, licensees, retailers and agents, among other is asked to choose their top properties from across the four categories, giving a true reflection of the most influential brands within the industry today.
Each will be selected according to their commercial impact, creativity, innovation, longevity and retail presence.
The top 100 licensed properties of the last 12 months will then be revealed in a glossy book, launched at this year’s Brand Licensing Europe on October 1st.
“It’s been another big year on the licensing scene, with plenty of changes, challenges, and a continued state of evolution that has kept this industry well on its toes. In the midst of it all, many of today’s biggest brand names have been at the forefront of change, while new and emerging platforms have given light to some innovative new IP,” said Robert Hutchins, editor of Licensing.biz and The Licensing.biz Powerlist 2019.
“The toy industry has itself played a major part in shaping the licensing space as we know it today, and The Powerlist is our chance to champion and celebrate the top 100 most influential brands of the past year, and those that keep this industry a vibrant and exciting place to work within. We’re looking forward to seeing the nominations come in and present this year’s definitive listing.”
