Moose Toys’ exclusive FAO Schwarz event sees Goo Goo Galaxy sell out in two hours

An exclusive launch event held at New York’s flagship FAO Schwarz toy shop for Moose Toys’ newest collectable line has been hailed a success, in which the new DIY slime toys sold out ‘within a matter of hours,’ according to reports from the store.

Moose Toys is looking to maintain its reputation for innovation with its latest toy brand, Goo Goo Galaxy, a range that merges the current collectable trend with the popularity of tactile toys. It features a cast of alien babies called Goo Drops, who arrive on the scene filled with Goo.

Excitement for the launch of Goo Drops was built early via a teaser campaign developed in partnership with YouTube and Instagram content creators, and culminated in a big reveal and special event held at FAO Schwarz in New York City, where fans were given the chance to purchase Goo Goo Galaxy toys ahead of anyone else.

According to Moose Toys, not only did the highly anticipated event have kids lining up out the door and around the block, but the product sold out in only two hours.

“We jumped at the opportunity to offer an exclusive event and first chance to purchase Goo Goo Galaxy for our customers,” said David Niggli, chief merchandising officer, FAO Schwarz. “Our goal is to create unique and curated experiences within the store, and clearly the Goo Goo Galaxy crash landing event hit the mark. The product flew off our shelves in record time.”

Chris Byrne, an independent toy analyst who goes by the name The Toy Guy, attended the event. He predicts that Goo Goo Galaxy will be a ‘top toy this holiday season.’

“The line is an inspired combination of quirky characters, slime play, and a cast of characters that’s as fresh as it is fun. It’s innovative in design and delivers classic solo and social play, so it’s no surprise kids responded to these awesome aliens.”

Beginning August 1, Goo Goo Galaxy will be available online and retail locations nationwide, wherever toys are sold. Goo Goo Galaxy Series 1 Single Packs have an MSRP of $14.99.
