Karasuno is Back and Hungry for the National Title!

Via Haikyu!! Official

With the year coming to an end, anticipated winter season anime titles are starting to prepare for their time to shine, and no other title has a higher anticipation than the fourth season of Haikyu!!: To the Top. The official website of Haikyu!!: To the Top released a promotional video highlighting some of the key elements of the next season, followed by details about its debut. The long-awaited volleyball anime will start airing on January 11 at 1:25 a.m. on MBS and TBS’ super Animeism programming block. The anime will be airing as a split course, meaning that the second half of the season will air sometime around July 2020. You can currently watch the previous seasons of Haikyu!! on the following platforms:

  • Crunchyroll
  • Hulu
  • Netflix
  • Amazon Prime

Haikyu!!: To the Top will start off where we left the Karasuno High School Volleyball Club after they’ve defeated Shiratorizawa Academy to qualify for the National Tournament. Karasuno will finally make their return to the national stage to face off against Nekoma High. Before the players take the court, a couple of them will be invited to different training camps to hone their skills and prepare them for the coming battles.

The opening theme song “Phoenix” is preformed by Burnout Syndromes, and can also be heard in the promotional video released by TOHO Animation. Music from Burnout Syndromes is nothing new to Haikyu!!, as their songs “Fly High!!” and “Hikariare” were used as opening theme songs in previous seasons. The ending theme “Kessen Spirit” will be performed by CHiCO and HoneyWorks.

Season four is going to be directed by familiar faces Masako Satou (Haikyuu!! Second Season episode director, Anima Yell!) and Mariko Ishikawa (Haikyuu!!: Karasuno Koukou vs. Shiratorizawa Gakuen Koukou) at Prodution I.G. The fourth season will also have veteran script writer Taku Kishimoto, Takahiro Kishada as character designer, music composers Yuuki Hayashi and Asami Tachibana, and other returning staff members. It’s safe to say that the fourth season is still going to have the same Haikyu!! flair it’s always had.

Haikyu!!: Riku vs. Kuu (Haikyu!!: Land vs. Sky), was also announced, preview video above, as a two-episode original that will cover events from volumes 22 and 23 of the manga. The episodes will premiere at Jump Festa 2020, which runs from December 21 through the 22. The home release of the original anime will be available on video on January 22, 2020 by TOHO animation.
