French Electronic Duo Daft Punk Has Officially Split Up

“I’ll miss you more than anyone in my life”

After 28 years together, the Influential French electronic duo, Daft Punk, has officially split up.

Beginning in 1993, the duo, whose real names are Guy-Manuel de Homem- Christo and Thomas Bangalter, quickly rose in the French house scene with their music that mixed Funk, R&B, Hip-hop, Rock, and more.

The duo, best known for their iconic golden and silver robot helmets, released a video titled “Epilogue” on February 22, 2021, which signaled the end of one of the greatest pairs in music history.

The Duo’s first album was Homework, released in 1997, which includes singles  “Da Funk” and “Around The World”.

They would go on to release three more studio albums with 2013’s Random Access Memories being the final, two live albums, three remix albums, one compilation album, and an abundance of hit singles that include (but aren’t limited to):

  • Revolution 909
  • Aerodynamic
  • Face to Face
  • Something About Us
  •  Digital Love
  • Robot Rock
  • Derezzed
  • One More Time

Daft Punk has not only been an influential duo in the realm of music but also in pop culture as well.

With the help of legendary manga creator Leiji Matsumoto, Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem was released in 2003 as a visual retelling of their 2001 “Discovery” album.

In 2010, Daft Punk produced the film score to Tron: Legacy, which sprouted out the single “Derezzed”.

It’s safe to say that even though Daft Punk may be done, their music and legacy will be loved and remembered around the world.
