Big Game Spots from Super Bowl LIV

Many trailers and TV spots for upcoming theatrical and streaming releases raced ahead of Super Bowl LIV, including Sonic the Hedgehog, A Quiet Place: Part II, and F9. Game day has given us new previews for already anticipated movies and graced us with some new surprises. Here’s the short and sweet of it:

Top Gun: Maverick sees Tom Cruise’s Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in breathtakingly tense and dangerous situations in the air and on the ground.

Mulan gets down to business as Liu Yifei’s Hua Mulan heads into battle against the Huns (the Final Trailer has also been released to accompany the Super Bowl commercial).

F9 revs up for another, faster trailer for the newest installment in the Fast Saga, seeing the return of Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto and the introduction of John Cena’s Jakob, Dom’s younger brother.

Black Widow acknowledges the family that Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff had before the Avengers, and the mysterious masked Taskmaster shows off more of his copycat skills by kicking up his shield from the ground to his arm, just as Captain America did in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

No Time to Die celebrates its status as the 25th film in the James Bond franchise and promises big changes to come for Daniel Craig’s 007.

Minions: The Rise of Gru makes a brief introduction before its official trailer comes out on February 5, and there’s a lot to be ready for, most notably the Minions’ first meeting with a young Gru.

And last but not least…

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, and Loki all mark Marvel Studios’ Disney+ debut! Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson is finally ready to take up Cap’s shield and team up with Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes against threats old and new, namely Daniel Brühl’s Helmut Zemo and Wyatt Russell’s John Walker, aka U.S. Agent. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Olson’s Wanda Maximoff reunites with Paul Bettany’s Vision, somehow restored after the events of Avengers: Infinity War. And Tom Hiddleston’s Loki… well, we don’t really know yet, as there wasn’t any real footage of the show, but he himself promises a dastardly return, and that’s all we could ever ask for.

2020 will prove to be pretty exciting and varied as far as entertainment goes. What films/shows are you hyped for?
